Below the castle of the same name, Ilbarritz beach is located north of Bidart, bordering on Biarritz. Easily accessible thanks to its two large car parks, it offers a 300-meter stretch of sand on the Atlantic. Supervised in summer, it is also equipped with access for people with reduced mobility. The beach is surrounded by the beautiful 9-hole golf course at Ilbarritz golf course. Two restaurants and a surf school are on the Bidart side, near the golf course at the end of avenue du Lac. Ilbarritz beach is also equipped with showers and toilets. It is appreciated by families for swimming as well as snowboard enthusiasts for its waves.
Pavillon Royal Beach
South of Ilbarritz golf course and beach, the Royal Pavilion beach is named after the neoclassical building that overlooks it on the ledge. It offers more than a kilometer of fine sand. Swimming is supervised from mid-June to mid-September. Some rocky areas on the Biarritz side delight children at low tide. The beach is accessible by bus and car, via Prince of Wales Avenue. The number of parking spaces is limited. A pedestrian path along the Ilbarritz golf course then gives access to the expanse of sand.
Erretegia Beach is appreciated for its ideal location, close to Bidart town center but in a preserved natural setting and a green setting. It offers an expanse of coarse-grained sand over several hundred meters. It is also the starting point for the coastal path that runs along the Basque cornice along the Atlantic to Hendaye. Swimming is supervised in July and August. A large parking lot is located 250 meters from the beach. Both family-oriented and popular with sporty surfers, Erretegia Beach also has a snack bar open seasonally.
South of Center Beach and downtown Bidart, Uhabia Beach is made up of two parts separated by a stream. Each part is easily accessible thanks to two free car parks, located respectively rue Maurice-Pierre on the south side and rue des Tamaris on the north side. Uhabia Beach is a family get-together, where swimming is supervised in season and where there is access for people with reduced mobility. The southern beach is sandy, while the northern beach is made up of rocks and coarse-grained sand. The place is also a famous surf spot. There are restaurants and surf schools on both sides of the beach.
At the heart of the resort, the Center beach offers 500 meters of fine sand bathed by the Atlantic, at the foot of green cliffs. A favorite with surfers and bodyboarders, it is also a family beach, where swimming is supervised in season and where tiralos are made available to people with reduced mobility. In summer there is a beach club for children and a beach volleyball court is set up on the sand. A parking lot is located near the beach. There is also a seafood restaurant facing the ocean and a surf school.
