The Barnes diary: summer 2026 highlights

Art comes to BARNES Côte Basque
Every summer, BARNES Côte Basque celebrates artistic creation by opening the doors of its Biarritz, Hossegor and Saint-Jean-de-Luz agencies for its now eagerly awaited cocktail openings. Elegant and convivial, these gatherings have become highlights of the summer season on the Basque Coast.
For the 2026 edition, three dates will punctuate the summer: the Murielle Vanhove exhibition until 26 June, then an opening on 23 July in Biarritz and another on 6 August in Saint-Jean-de-Luz. So many opportunities to discover singular artistic worlds in a privileged setting, where aesthetes, collectors and art lovers come together.
True to its commitment to the local scene, BARNES Côte Basque shines a light on emblematic artists of the region, such as the painter Thierry de Gorostarzu in Biarritz, Javier Mendizabal, exhibited in Saint-Jean-de-Luz last summer, and the photographer Sylvain Cazenave in Hossegor. Through these events, BARNES Côte Basque affirms its determination to bring art to life within its spaces and to support regional creation over the long term.

A partner of the Biarritz Film Festival – Nouvelles Vagues, BARNES Côte Basque supports an event that fully embodies the cultural vitality of Biarritz. Launched in 2023, the festival quickly established itself as a must-attend gathering, celebrating cinema through the eyes of the new generations.
From 23 to 28 June 2026, Biarritz will live to the rhythm of its 4th edition, driven by a bold international programme. This year, the festival will be chaired by Kristen Stewart, an emblematic figure of contemporary cinema, whose artistic commitment and singularity echo the very DNA of Nouvelles Vagues.
An international competition of unreleased feature films, open-air screenings, encounters and exchanges: the festival offers a unique immersion in the stories and sensibilities of today, in direct touch with the concerns of youth. Through this partnership, BARNES Côte Basque reaffirms its attachment to contemporary creation and cultural effervescence, supporting an event that brings cinema, territory and new inspirations into dialogue.
